To coincide with the 20–year anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, the Accurat team brought to life Afghanistan20: a data–driven historical document showing EMERGENCY’s charitable efforts in the region.

Through a long scroll – replete with first-hand accounts, original photography, and interactive data visualisations – we learn that 241,000 civilians have been killed since 2001, and that countless more have died as a result of hunger, disease, and poor infrastructure. I was in charge of developing the landing visualisation and the stacked barchart. I also worked side by side with the team to develop the other visualisations such as treemaps, simple barcharts and percentage charts.
